International Women’s day was celebrated with a Marathon organized by the Algarve Cancer Association (AOA)in collaboration with the Municipality of Tavira. This event took place on the 9th of May, the starting point being in the town’s main square.
The object of this event was to alert people to the disease , particularly breast cancer (the 2nd cause of death in woman in Europe); to raise public awareness to practice a healthy lifestyle and to raise funds for the AOA, in favour of cancer patients.
The Hospital Particular do Algarve supported the event with a Nurse permanently on duty during the Marathon.
